Very similar in appearance to its cousin the jalapeño, serrano peppers are widely used in Mexican cuisine. Serrano peppers can lend their fresh spicy flavor raw or roasted to salsas, dips, and hot sauce. A step up from the jalapeño in terms of spice, serrano peppers pack five to ten times the amount of heat.
